A New Beginning

“Live your life each day as if you were climbing a mountain, an occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new destination.” -Harold V. Melchert. About 2 weeks ago I was accepted to go to a service trip to Morocco. When I got the call that I was accepted it was like a step toward the summit, a glance toward the top. I will going to Morocco during summer of 2016.  This will be my second trip with Children’s Global Alliance. My first trip I went to Nicaragua and there I learned some of the biggest lessons in my life so far. I learned that no matter where you are in the world everyone just needs the same thing in life, and that is love.
My name is Megan Carty. I am currently a freshman at Vail Christian High School. This upcoming summer I will be teaching English at Abode Salan Middle School, which serves kids from the old medina in Rabat, which is the capital city of Morocco. In this school they house 520 kids with classes 7-9th grade in 20 classrooms. At this school we will be developing their first ESL program for them and also participating in home visits.
I have an older sister that’s a sophomore in college at Arizona State. I have two parents that I am very grateful for, Kathy Fort Carty and Bill Carty.  Some of my passions and things that I value very much are sports, friends and family. I have grown up with two coaches as parents so sports are highly valued and everyone is very passionate about them. At school I play volleyball and basketball and I am hoping to play soccer in the spring.

I am so exited to be on this journey and to be given this amazing opportunity.  I look forward to my build on my adventures with CGA, and my trip to Morocco.
