Time Flies
As of March 19th, 2017, I have reached my
fundraising goal of $3,300. I couldn’t be more thankful for all the generous
people in my life that have donated to this amazing experience throughout the
year.
Through life we face achievements, fears, goals, and
hopes. These trips have never failed to bring out all of these qualities in
myself. I have seen myself go from the person that didn’t think could raise
$1,500 in a couple months to the person that has stood up in front of a class
that could barely speak any English and go for it. As the date is approaching
quickly for my life time opportunity to travel to Tanzania and I couldn’t be
more ecstatic to get back out into the world to do something that I LOVE more
than anything.
This being the third time I have traveled to a third
world country with Children’s Global Alliance I can never say my fears have
surrounded “danger”. From the beginning, I have never feared for my safety in a
country even with the concern from my family members. However, the fears that I
have had on my trips is the fear of not being good enough or perform my best
for the people that deserve it the most. Along with these trips they always
bring anxiety with them, weather its standing up in front of kids that have no
respect for you or have never seen you before and trying your best or just
holding yourself up to the highest standards you can.
Even though those fears are always there my goals and
things I am looking forward to trumps them all. Personally, having goals during
these trips are a big part of what you are there for. When you are on the other
side of the world without help by your side at all time you have to know what
the goal is end site to help motivate yourself, which ends up making it 10x
more rewarding in the end. Some goals I have for myself are to step up as a
leader more than I ever have been before and to not be afraid. Another goal
that I have for myself is to exhume confidence when I am teaching because it
will help make students feel confident in what they are learning and that they
will be able to trust that I can teach it to the best of my ability.
Every day this trip gets closer and closer I become
more excited and grateful that I get to go to do what I love for two and a half
weeks again! Once again, I couldn’t be for thankful for everyone who has helped
and supported me on my journey to Tanzania!
