Countdown to Tanzania

Tanzania is a country populated with 51.82 million diverse human beings, and I am ONE  person that is going to get to impacted a small slice of that 51.82 million. One person that is going to experience the vibrant country composed with different religions, ethnic, and linguistic groups. One, small town, Vail girl that is getting the incredible opportunity to live out her dream of helping others in order to grow as a person.

Tanzania is an extraordinary country in Eastern Africa that borders Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda and Burundi to the west; and Zambia and Malawi to the south. If you were to travel around the vastness that is Tanzania you would experience the diversity that surrounds its endless geography. From the mountainous northeast where Mount Kilimanjaro is located, to Central Tanzania’s large plateau, and the three largest lakes in Africa, all in Tanzania. From there you would experience Tanzania’s incredible wildlife. With almost 38% of Tanzania’s land occupied for conservation of sacred lands and animals.
April 26th, 1964 was a day of unification for the United Republic of Tanzania. Brought together by the Zanzibar islands and Tanganyika, Tanzania became free from the British rule. From then, the capital of Dar Es Salaam has been moved to Dodoma, which was founded in 1907 by German colonists. Ever since, the capital has thrived from trade and relationships with other countries. Now, in present day Tanzania, the unification shows through the 100 languages, 125 ethnic groups, the three major religions, and the diverse culture.
Researching this amazing country has made me extremely proud to say that almost every penny I have made in the last year has gone to this life changing organization. There is not one part of me that would take it back. The endless life lessons this organization has taught me has made me the person I aspire to be everyday. The organization has given me the chance to live out my dream and form new ones of seeing the world and serving people at the same time. I can’t wait to see where my future takes me with CGA. However, I wouldn't be in this place if it wasn't for the people that have supported me throughout the past couple years by reading my blogs, donating supplies, and taking part in my fundraisers. So far this year I have raised over $1,650 out of the $3,300 for my trip to Tanzania in July. I have gotten to this point by extremely generous donations from Destination Services, family, and friends. I am also selling 2017 Children’s Global Alliance Calendars, filled with heart warming pictures of the destinations of CGA and quotes of wisdom and love, please contact me if you are interested in purchasing one! Once again thank you so much for all the people that have supported me in the past year to get the place I am at today!
